There is a lot of picky people on here.

Eddie B- it wouldn't be English, as England is not in the star wars universe. I think its Galactic Basic.

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
also how comes every planet seems to have one eco system for the entire planet?

Babel fish.

We're just so behind the times on Earth, we still only have a few free try-outs, and the CIA and the Vatican have those.

How come the people who CAN speak English, understand everything the ones who are speaking another language are saying?

Gavros 1:59 Mon Jan 9
Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
Here's another thing; if this did happen in 'a long time ago in a galaxy for far away' then how come theyre speaking English? I mean whats the chances that two different species on different planets in different galaxies at different times come up with the same language?

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
Proper sci-fi is a possible, or perhaps even likely future, based on where we have come from, and where we are now.

The writer should have a grasp of history, and even anthropology, and a good grasp on where we are and the scientific developments of the day, and then have the ability to imagine where it could take us.

Blade Runner is a good example of years into the future. Black Mirror is a (satarically) good example set 10 minutes into the future. Some of the heavyweights write about thousands of years into the future, but that's harder for me to get into.

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
it's a weapon designed to blow up planets with one shot

doesn't really call for great aiming capabilities

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
If you really want to argue to the nth degree its a space opera franchise, but it's all the same thing isn't it.

Lily Hammer 1:33 Mon Jan 9
Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
It's fantasy adventure, not sci-fi.

Trevor B 1:32 Mon Jan 9

B

It's a sci-fi film, not a documentary.

Are you suggesting I'm crossing the wires of my memories? NEVER! My mind is utterly unaffected by the herb I've inhaled.

Anyway, the best bit in the original movies was when the alien bursts out of William Hurt's stomach.

They missed the tall tower in the centre of the base on Scarif by miles. They took out the dish but the Ray went on for miles before hitting the planet.

they hit the holy city and they hit the base, just because they didn't hit the exact bit that our heroes were in? i think you're over-thinking things a bit mate!

didn't realise that. then they are a bit silly

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
which brings me to another point...it may be powerful, but it hasnt got particularly good aim, has it? On both occasions they use it, they fire about half a planet away from their intended target.

Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
Actually it was "Many Bothans died to bring us this information..." before someone picks me up on it!

Trevor B 1:05 Mon Jan 9
Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
Tarkin orders the destruction of the Scarif base, not the planet.

I'm not a Star Wars fan...never have been

Somebody persuaded me to go see it on New Year's Eve

I was surprised but...I did enjoy it

Lily

"Based on the line from Eps 4 "Alot of good people died to get us these plans," I knew some of teh heroes would die, but fuck me, I didn't realise all of them would."

I think you're confused mate, the line you are thinking of is "A lot of Bothans died to bring us these plans" and that's from ROTJ.

Gavros 12:57 Mon Jan 9
Re: Star Wars Rogue One - anyone?
No it wasnt Dom, Tarqin makes clear that Alderaan is the first planet to be blown up toward the end of the film.
